Catastrophic Texas Flash Floods
Devastating flash floods hit Central Texas obliterating 78 and leaving dozens of people unaccounted.
Austin, Texas 7th of July 2025:
Raging flash floods that hit the central part of Texas within few hours, left at least 78 dead, including 28 children, and 52 more are still missing. Relief measures are in progress in the areas hit by the disaster, especially those located in the areas bordering Guadalupe River whose banks burst after the heavy downpour continued to last a number of days.
More than 850 individuals have already been pulled out of roofs, flooded cars, and washed-out houses by the emergency organizations. There are thousands still displaced since water levels keep climbing up in some regions.

According to locals, the flash floods were termed as unstoppable walls of water. Most people were totally unprepared at the wee-hours of the morning as rain started coming down seriously to the extent of exceeding the natural drainage systems and those of the man-made infrastructure.
The water came up so quick, that we had no time to take anything. Maria Vasquez, a citizen of New Braunfels, was at home during the floods; she said she was caught with her entire family.
Whole communities in Kerrville, Seguin and San Marcos are already under water as roads get washed and bridges collapse.
Rescue and National Response
Governor Greg Abbott has made a state of emergency declaration and has ended up activating the National Guard and additionally seeking federal disaster funds.
It is likely that President Donald Trump can also visit the region on July 9 after a statement of the US President that he was saddened that was personal sorrow and support of the great people of Texas.
There are more than a 1,200 emergency workers, dozens of boats, helicopters, and drones that are actively involved in rescue missions. Shelter centers are established in the region providing relief to masses but most of them are overcrowded with limited supply

Human Toll
