Russia Attacks Ukraine with Many Drones and Missiles, Increasing Seriousness in the Region

Russia Attacks Ukraine with Many Drones

On June 6, 2025, Moscow conducted its biggest air attack against Ukraine thus far in the conflict, using more than 400 drones and over 40 missiles which hit Kyiv and other regions.

Four people were killed in the incident, including emergency helpers and about 49 others suffered injuries. A lot of damage happened to homes and to important systems like electricity and transport.

The Kremlin stated that its attacks followed Ukraine’s Operation Spiderweb which focused on striking Russian military resources.

Zelensky called on the international community and specifically Western countries, to step up against Russia.

So, Ukraine used drones to hit military areas in Russia such as an airfield in Bryansk and a fuel station in Engels.

Both parties are using drones increasingly in this war and the recent attacks show how much drone warfare has come to dominate the tactics. The tension is growing, so leaders are demanding more international help to avoid another escalation.

More than 400 drone attacks from Russia brought a major change in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

In 2025, events will happen on June 7 in Kyiv and Moscow.

On June 6, 2025, Russian troops flew more than 400 drone strikes and another 40 missiles in what was one of the sharpest aerial offenses during the recent Russia-Ukraine war. Officials from Ukraine called the attack huge, stating it meant a new escalation in Russian aggression and caused serious destruction, hurt many people and raised calls to get help from the world.

Russia is continuing to step up attacks across Ukraine.

The Ukrainian Air Force reports that Iranian-made Shahed drones and cruise missiles were used to attack different cities, for example, Kyiv, Lviv, Dnipro and Odesa. Bombs exploded during the night and the sirens alerting people to the attacks rang for a long time.

Officials in the country have identified four deaths and 45 injuries, including those among emergency responders aided victims before they were hit too. Most of the attacks were directed at residential buildings, transport infrastructure and energy facilities.

The state media in Russia described the missile attacks as a response to Ukraine hitting military and oil sites on Russian soil earlier in the week which is known as Operation Spiderweb in Ukraine.

Ukraine says it needs more help from other countries.

According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the attack was an act of deliberate terror and he asked again for enhanced military aid from the Western countries, including advanced air defense units and fighter jets.

The scale of invasion shows that Russia resorts to violence instead of peace talks. The world has to come out with a decisive response,” Zelenskyy said in the statement.

Ukraine is said to have launched drone missions against Russian strategic locations such as an airfield in Bryansk and a fuel depot in Engels, even if Russia denied giving any details on the damage.

Regional and global problems are becoming more frequent.

Because of the conflict’s deterioration, global leaders and NATO members are concerned about the spread of the war beyond Russia and Ukraine. Many analysts see this escalation as a sign of greater aggression from Russia, since it mainly uses drones to attack Ukraine and defenses are often not able to cope.

An emergency session has been called by the United Nations Security Council and the European Union is working on a new set of sanctions against Russia because of the incident.

Time of the rise of Drones

It suggests that unmanned aerial vehicles are being increasingly used in battles nowadays. Ukraine has made great progress in drone warfare, but Russia still uses imported drones to cause difficulties for Ukraine’s infrastructure.

It is cautioned that such kinds of wars may take longer, cause more serious humanitarian problems and prevent peace from becoming a reality.
