PM Modi undertakes a strategic three nation tour to Cyprus, Canada and Croatia

On June 15, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi left India on an intensive diplomatic exercise to three countries-Cyprus, Canada, and Croatia and it was his first international trip after Operation Sindoor ended- aimed at strengthening bilateral ties as well as giving Indian a high-impact voice-over in multilateral diplomacy
First Stop: Cyprus (June 15 16)
Modi landed in the capital Nicosia becoming the first Indian PM who visited Cyprus since 2002
. There is talk of developing collaboration in the area of trade, energy and coastal security as well as cultural and strategic relations in the Mediterranean world.
Leg Canada & G7 Summit (June 15-17)
After Cyprus, Modi will travel to Kananaskis, Alberta, to attend the 51 st G7 Summit (June 15 17) as a guest invitee
. His visit follows his invitation by the Canadian PM Mark Carney which was a diplomatic visit following bad relations after the so-called 2023 Nijjar affair
Some of the agenda points are:
Bi-lateral negotiations with world leaders such as possible heads-of-state negotiations. Modi can reach out to Donald Trump, who was formerly the president of the United States and meet him and the focus of communication will be on global security, technological advancement, supply chains e.t.c
Made to the global south, to such burning issues, as climate change, AI, and energy, with references to the importance of India in the world arena
Top-level deals with Canada - a new defrostation in relations, a new cooperation in counterterrorism, notwithstanding the protest of the Sikh diaspora
Last destination: Croatia (June 17 -19)
Venturing out to Balkans in 1983 was last seen as India reached out to Zagreb once PM Modi returns home after the visit to Canada.
