The tensions in the Middle East have worsened drastically following reported Israeli airstrike on an underground Iranian nuclear facility. The step has renewed the threat of a wider conflict in the region and elicited immediate responses in the international community including a strongly worded statement by former U.S. President Donald Trump.

Israeli jets on late Monday night raided a nuclear plant deep within Iran territory in a very coordinated operation according to many sources. Israel has not claimed official responsibility on the act, but anonymous high ranking military stated that the operation was to derail the uranium enrichment program in Iran which has been the cause of concern in the international community of countries fearing that nuclear weapons will be developed.
It is reported that the targeted site, which is believed to be a hardened underground facility that can withstand aerial attacks, is in Natanz region. Satellite photographs and quake indicators indicate much damage, but Iran has understated its effects terming it as a failed bid to derail national development.
Iran Vows Revenge
The Iranian officials made quick reactions against the attack, terming it as an outright war action and promised a stern reply at some point and within a time of their choice. The images of the damaged facility were put on Iranian state media and anti-Israel protests broke out in Tehran.
The Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei blamed the Western powers on the support of Israeli aggression, saying that, any attack would be repayed with flames. This had led the Revolutionary Guard to be put on high alert and some of the missile battery moved close to major cities.
