Title: India Criticizes Pakistan at UN Security Council, Calls for Global Action Against Terrorism
By Shubham Pawar, May 24, 2025
New York – Addressing the UNSC seriously, India has blamed Pakistan for its unwavering support of attacks crossing the borders and urged the international community to address the situation by holding Pakistan accountable.
Secretary-General Guterres touched on the subject of global security and counterterrorism during a meeting of the UNSC earlier this week. The statement comes after tensions rose when militant attacks in Jammu & Kashmir killed several civilians, including tourists from other nations.
There is no excuse for or acceptance of terrorism.
India’s Ambassador Kamboj said plainly, “For a long time, terrorist attacks from Pakistan have harmed India.” There should be no excuse for hiding terror groups behind basic political principles.
She pointed out that there is no reason to support terrorism and urged the UNSC to respond firmly against countries offering shelter, funds or political reassurance to terrorist groups.
A new drive to hold everyone responsible globally
Experts say that India’s statement represents a fresh attempt to seek international attention over Pakistan’s suspected links to terrorism, owing to the recent massacre of tourists in Kashmir.
Kamboj also restated India’s request for countries to fully adopt the Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism (CCIT) which India put forward in 1996. “Now, the world community is called on to stop acting in their own interests and to work as one, without accepting terrorism at all,” he asked.
Pakistan Denies the Accusations
Pakistan at the UN said the claims were incorrect and charged India with trying to change the subject from its problems inside Kashmir. Still, India drew attention to what happened on the ground, saying the world cannot overlook the misery caused by Pakistani-supported militant groups.
There Were Many Mixed Responses
Countries across the Middle East expressed concern about rising tensions in the region, but the United States and France, as well as other Western powers, stressed India’s worries about terrorism. Yet, a number of members of the UNSC, including China, urged all involved to reduce tensions and talk things out.
Analysts say that the firm comments by India at the UN signal a change in direction, trying to make Pakistan face international isolation for its part in supporting terrorism.
Conclusion: It’s Time for Real Steps
India’s words at the UNSC represent its anger with the world’s lack of pressure on Pakistan to remove terrorist networks. Because recent violence is still on everyone’s minds, New Delhi is demanding more than just words; it wants action now.
While worries continue, it is difficult for the world to determine if accountability outweighs local peace and stability.
