India’s 2036 Olympics Bid: Momentum Grows
Strategic Bid & Strategic Foresight
The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) sent an official Letter of Interest to the Future Host Commission of the IOC, in October 2024, stating the interest of India to organize the 2036 Olympics and Paralympics .
The strategy of the government is based on Ahmedabad (Gujarat) as the major destination, which has been approved on many levels .
Infrastructure Legacy Commitments
Another project is the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave which will be built along with the Narendra Modi Stadium and cover 236 acres and provide at least 20 Olympic sports and up to 132 000 spectators .
Proposals include an establishment of a Naranpura Sports Complex, a separate Athletes Village and the modernisation of existing stadiums and cities .
Besides, India is also constructing 10 high-performance training centres in strategic spots through public-private partnership to nurture excellent athletes on specific sports .

The IOA has resolved a leadership dispute, announced an organized anti-doping education program in July 2025 and formed a unified force ahead of the IOC .

In July 2025, a high-level Indian delegation, headed by IOA President P.T. Usha and leadership of the state of Gujarat, was in IOC headquarters in Lausanne to reclaim the preparedness and to continue working dialogue towards reinforcing on the side of the Indian readiness.
