Israel-Iran Air War is on the Boil with Both Forces Exchange Blistering Attacks
The Middle East has been under intense warfare in a radical escalation of tensions between Israel and Iran that received global attention as the two involved parties resorted to the strongest aerial attacks they have ever had in an expanding conflict that has alarmed the region.
Israeli Attacks In the Bowels of Iran
The Israeli military crews reported that they carried out accuracy airstrikes on Friday night late, in strike against the Iranian missile facilities, and a high ranking Iranian, an official of the Quds Force. The reports show that a ranking commander of an elite foreign operation unit of Iran, Saeed Izadi, was killed in a city of Qom, which is a major escalation in targeting strategy.
Israeli authorities described the attacks as highly surgical, and essential saying the facilities were used in production of drones and precision-directed missiles targeting the Israeli population.
In a speech to the press, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated:
We will not permit the Iran regime to threaten our cities. This is a defensive exercise to maintain safety of Israeli people.”
Iran Fires Back Missile and Drone Attacks
In retaliation, Iran proceeded to fired new series of ballistic missiles and suicide drones further into central and southern Israel. In Tel Aviv, Beersheba, and Ashkelon, explosions were reported, several civilians were injured and at least three civilians were killed according to the Israeli emergency services.
Threats that were carried out by the Israeli Iron Dome defense system were many such that not all were thwarted. Even after the call of civilian shelter and emergency evacuation plans, they posted videos on the social media of fire and destruction near a hospital in Beersheba.
Tehran Rejects Negotiations
On the upward part of the escalation, the Supreme National Security Council of Iran confirmed in a firm statement that Tehran will not resume nuclear talks as long as Israeli attacks are underway. State media in Iran called Israel a war criminal and promised more retaliation at the time and in might.
The Ayatollah Khamenei, who is the supreme leader of Iran, made a televised warning:
We have patience up to a point. There will be no room to respond with more aggression than before
Regional and Global fallout
The re-escalation of the conflicts has caused increased concern over the possibility of a larger conflict in the region potentially involving Hezbollah in Lebanon, Shiite militias in Iraq, and possibly even American assets in the Gulf.
The oil prices went bullish to an extent of $105 per barrel and global stock markets retarded in fear of supply cut. They asked the United Nations Security Council to hold an emergency meeting, and European leaders are urging to quickly hold de-escalation talks.
So far U.S. President Joe Biden has not taken a direct part but said:
We keep a sharp eye on what is happening. There must be peace, we are going to protect our friends when they call us.”
A Long War in the Future?
As neither Israel nor Iran is expecting to see the situation defuse, analysts now consider the possibility of the case further developing into a lasting conflict in airspace and cyberspace, which may even spill over into proxy warfare between Israel and Iran in Syria and Lebanon, as well as the Red Sea.
The Israeli Defense Forces have deployed more batteries of Iron Dome and David Sling missile defense systems and Iran has also deployed its air defence network and the Mediterranean Revolutionary Guard divisions.
A Peace call in the middle of the War
Trying to calm the situation, humanitarian organizations have warned of restraint, as there is an increasing number of victims among civilians, as well as because people fear destabilization in the region.
At least, the skies of the Middle East are still at a tense stage where drones, missiles, and the possibility of the worst are all there and might be the start of a much bigger war
